Providence is calling a Telephone Operator (0.6 FTE, 24 hours per week Variable Shift) to Providence St Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA.

The Telephone Operator position is responsible for answering the hospitals main lines, responding to the customer, and processing the call in the most efficient and expedient manner; for public address paging, remote pager paging, radio paging, inputting physician messages, providing customers with physician contact information, monitoring and responding to all hospital/campus alarms and emergency procedures, documenting and maintaining files of all communications materials.
In this position you will:
Appropriately answers incoming and in-house calls. Processes physician messages, accesses patient information. Radio dispatches security, maintenance, & plant engineer. Perform multiple tasks.
Demonstrates ability to answer, process and record calls from staff, physicians, pharmacies, patients, families, funeral homes, & insurance companies pertaining to patient cared for by hospitalists.
Monitor and respond to all hospital/campus alarms and emergency procedures. Responds appropriately to overhead and remote paging. Documents expiration, alarms, team calls, and emergency procedures.
Produce, update, audit, and edit all logs, forms, reference materials, team procedures, and employee directories. Orders supplies and forms.
Demonstrates ability to work and communicate with patients, managers and clients of various ages’ groups.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) years of experience operating a switchboard.
Experience in a medical environment.
Knowledgeable in medical terminology.
Ability to multi-task
