Providence Health & Services Supervisor, Patient Scheduling - Surgery in Olympia, Washington
Providence is calling a Supervisor Patient Scheduler (Full Time, Day Shift) at Surgery Department of Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA.
We are seeking a caring and engaged individual who will assists Manager and Director with day-to-day operational activities in assigned areas. Acts as trainer and educational resource for assigned staff.
In this position you will:
Monitor caregiver performance and productivity in assigned areas. Performs annual performance reviews. Responsible for caregiver counseling and disciplinary issues, as required. Responsible for hiring and disciplinary decisions with input from Manager and Director. Reviews and approves timesheets, approves PTO, and other leave time. Establishes work priorities and determines appropriate procedures using established professional standards. Implements and fosters process improvement. Assumes team leadership role.
Manages daily scheduling and directs assigned caregivers. Acts as a caregiver resource in solving complex problems. Provides oversight to Scheduling for orientation and training of assigned caregivers.
Assists Manager and Director in development and maintenance of departmental policies, procedures, and protocols for assigned areas. Works with clinical supervisors in coordinating policy/protocols for scheduling procedures for the different specialties. Ensures competency plans are updated regularly
Assumes responsibility for scheduling phone system and reporting. Runs reports and provides feedback to caregivers on performance.
Identifies customer service issues related to scheduling and works with marketing representative and Manager to address concerns/complaints from which departmental policies are then addressed. Identifies opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies. Demonstrates inter-personal skills in communication with Providers and caregivers. Utilizes available resources. Recognizes errors/problems and takes corrective action. Develops and implements quality improvement initiatives in the scheduling area, with assistance of Manager, Medical Director or Director
Required qualifications for this position include:
High School diploma or GED or equivalent education/experience2 years Experience in healthcare support services, or a large medical group practice.
Must be highly competent in all essential functions of the Scheduling positions, or show this competency within 6 months in job.
Must be competent with hospital and radiology information systems.
Must be knowledgeable in Word, Excel and Outlook.
Must be self-directed and work with minimal supervision.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Prior supervisory experience.
Experience in personal computer based software, records systems, and databases bases information retrieval.
Medical Terminology knowledge.
