Providence Health & Services Restorative Aide in Olympia, Washington

Description:

Providence is calling a Restorative Aide (Days, 1.0 FTE) to work in Long Term Care at Providence Mother Joseph Care Center in Olympia, Washington.

This position is responsible for resident support work involving nursing care under the direction of the Restorative Supervisor.

In this position you will:

  • Carries out individual restorative programs designed by the Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Speech Pathologist.

  • Assists resident with ambulation and transfer, as needed or outlined in their restorative plan of care.

  • Communicates observations of residents’ condition and promotes continuity of care through accurate and timely documentation. Reports and prevents residents’ neglect, abuse and violations of rights and privacy.

  • Sanitizes whirlpool, tubs and showers when used in restorative therapy. Disinfects residents’ equipment following Universal Precaution and established procedures.

  • Transports residents as assigned and in accordance with established safety rules.

  • Reports repairs and equipment failures to appropriate staff members.

  • Assists in progressive self-feeding program following a written plan established by the Occupational Therapist or Speech Pathologist and documents on flow sheets.

  • Informs Restorative Manager, Charge Nurse and designated Therapist of progression and regression.

  • Intervenes with residents and re-directs attention when residents become agitated.

  • Performs daily documentation on flow sheets of resident programs, creates brief summaries of resident participation on a routine basis as determined by the Restorative Manager.

  • Intervenes with residents and re-directs attention when residents become agitated.

  • Participates in on-going training for rehabilitative techniques.

  • Assists in the main dining room at assigned times.

  • Assists in the training of new Certified Nursing Assistants, particularly proper positioning techniques after orientation and as needed.

  • Reports resident problems, e.g. behavior, skin, bowel, eating or emotional problems to the primary LN.

  • Attends staff meetings, in-service meetings, and participates in agency committees or task force activities, attends care conferences as requested by nursing managers.

  • Participates in decision making process when residents request to change from a restorative program to a maintenance program.

  • Participates in continuing educational training and is responsible for remaining in compliance with the educational requirements and standards established by the State and other regulatory agencies.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Current Washington State Certified Nursing Assistant Certification and active on the Nurse Aide Registry (OBRA).

  • Current CPR certification or must obtain within 30 days of hire.
