A Phlebotomist II is responsible for clinical laboratory duties reception and telephone duties & proficient operation laboratory equipment including HIS/LIS systems; specimen handling: receiving and processing; prep & shipping of lab specimens for at Reference Laboratories; specimen/patient registration; phlebotomy - collection of blood samples by venipuncture or capillary stick; therapeutic blood collection; swab collection of specific Micro samples (per competency); assignment to OP Lab locations; training new staff as assigned.

Performs reception and telephone duties
Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English.
Explains steps, requirements, and procedures to customers.
Facilitates communications and refers complex calls to appropriate staff.
Ability to handle and process multiple specimen drops (i.e.) Courier Drops, Health Care Professional Drops, Tube Station Specimen Drops.
Demonstrates knowledge of the unit’s testing procedures, systems and databases as necessary to the position
Performs EKG test procedures (where offered) and phlebotomy tasks, collects venous blood specimens from patient age groups, as certified.
Demonstrates knowledge of basic computer skills necessary to operate PC and use common office software and office equipment.
High School Diploma or GED and completion of an approved phlebotomy or medical assistance program meeting requirements to be licenses as a MA-P or MA-C in WA State
Medical Assistant - Phlebotomist Certification (MA-P) or (MA-C)
Three (3) months direct experience as a phlebotomist and/or completion of a Phlebotomy program.
