Providence is calling a Phlebotomist I (0.6 FTE, Variable Shift) to work in Phlebotomy at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA.

The Phlebotomist I is responsible for clinical laboratory duties reception and telephone duties & proficient operation laboratory equipment including HIS/LIS systems; specimen handling: receiving and processing; prep & shipping of lab specimens for at Reference Laboratories; specimen/patient registration; phlebotomy - collection of blood samples by venipuncture or capillary stick; therapeutic blood collection; swab collection of specific Micro samples (per competency); assignment to OP Lab locations; training new staff as assigned.
In this position you will:
Performs reception and telephone duties
Ability to handle and process multiple specimen drops (i.e.) Courier Drops, Health Care Professional Drops, Tube Station Specimen Drops
Demonstrates knowledge of the unit’s testing procedures, systems and databases as necessary to the position
Performs EKG test procedures (where offered) and phlebotomy tasks, collects venous blood specimens from patient age groups, as certified
Performs office/clerical tasks such as filing, copying, and typing
Medical Assistant - Phlebotomist Certification (MA-P) or (MA-C)
Completion of an approved phlebotomy or medical assistance program meeting requirements to be licenses as a MA-P or MA-C in WA State
- Less than one year experience as a phlebotomist and/or completion of a Phlebotomy program
