Providence Mental Health Clinician in Olympia, Washington
Providence is calling a Mental Health Clinician (1.0 FTE, Variable Shift) to work at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA.
Under the supervision of the attending psychiatrist, the Mental Health Clinician will be responsible for assessing and providing short term interventions to patients that are involuntarily detained in the hospital; providing recommendations on the need for continued involuntary detainment, assisting with disposition for patients that are involuntarily detained, providing consultative and liaison services to other healthcare providers caring for such patients, completing and following up with utilization review for involuntarily detained patients as needed, and performing mental health evaluations and consultations on non-detained patients admitted to the medical floors and in the emergency department, as required.
Assessment: Demonstrates knowledge and expertise in the assessment and treatment of substance use and mental health disorders, decision making capacity, adult protection, domestic violence, sexual and physical assault, psychosocial crisis, and bereavement.
Assess the patient to determine the disease process of behavioral health issues; including physical, psychosocial, spiritual, cognitive status, and safety. Gathers data and assesses patient and social supports and resources for the purpose of developing plan of care. Serves as a conduit for accurate and timely information.
Treatment/Intervention: Demonstrates effective clinical judgment, and provides appropriate therapeutic interventions to address behavioral health diagnoses.
Develops and communicates the treatment plan and after care plans to the patient, social supports and all providers, units, and referring agencies. Provides behavioral treatment recommendations. Develops and coordinates the plan of care with both medical and nursing staff throughout the course of stay. Assists in petitioning the court for involuntary commitments.
Discharge Planning: Collaborates with physicians, unit team members, discharge planners, social workers to support behavioral health treatment needs.
Education: Attends and participates in patient care conferences/treatment team meetings. Coordinates with the Court Liaison & Education Coordinator to provide in-services to Providence St. Peter Hospital staff. Provides information to PSPH staff about behavioral health services available to them and their families. Provides training and supervision for clinical interns.
Consultation And Collaboration: Builds relationships between medical, behavioral health services. Communicates interventions and treatment planning with all team members including Designated Crisis Responders (DCRs). Provides consultation to case managers/discharge planners for the facilitation of applications for follow-up care programs in and outside the PSPH system.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Master’s degree in Social Work, Human Services or Psycho-Social/Mental Health Field
Must have one of the following licenses
Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or
Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFTA) or
Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) or
Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker Associate (LICSWA)
Or Agency Affiliated Counselor Certification - Within 6 months of hire
AHA BLS upon hire
One (1) year clinical crisis evaluation and intervention in an acute psychiatric setting with an emphasis on quick assessment skills
