Providence Health & Services Health Unit Coordinator - Surgical Short Stay Unit in Olympia, Washington
Providence is calling a Health Unit Coordinator - Surgical Short Stay Unit (0.8 FTE , Day Shift) to work at Providence St. Peters Hospital in Olympia, WA.
Health Unit Coordinators (HUCs) coordinate unit activities with ancillary departments and perform clerical/reception support for the unit; perform admission of patients, processing of patient orders, chart maintenance, and provide general support to patients and families, under supervision of the Unit Leader or designated licensed staff.
In this position you will:
Welcome visitors with eye contact, smile and friendly greeting.
Respond to and assist with patient, staff and visitor questions.
Acknowledge questions or concerns and meet immediate needs or finds someone who can help.
Demonstrate proficiency in the use of the EHR to manage patient registration/admit/transfer/discharge.
Run reports and audits from the EHR as directed.
Schedule patient appointments and tests.
Obtain insurance information as applicable.
Demonstrate proficiency in the basic use of Microsoft Office products.
Assist with the ordering, tracking, maintenance and organization of unit equipment and supplies.
Maintain patient and department records.
Maintain Privacy, Confidentiality and Safety.
Required qualifications for this position include:
- 1 year experience in clerical experience in a medical field, such as medical assistant, unit secretary, admitting clerk, or medical office receptionist.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- H.S. Diploma or GED
