Providence Health & Services Design and Construction Manager in Olympia, Washington


Providence is calling a Design and Construction Manager to Providence Health & Services in Olympia, WA.

We are seeking a Design & Construction Manager to report to either the Regional Director, Design & Construction Management role or the Senior Design & Construction Manager depending upon the region and scope of the portfolio within the region assigned. This role is a member of a capital project team which may include internal and external key stakeholders as well as third party consultants and vendors. This team member will lead a 48 bed expansion of Providence St. Peters Hospital.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Provide project leadership, coordination, and facilitate teamwork of project teams to meet construction project goals.

  • Develop and maintain construction project budgets and schedules.

  • Work with department managers, service line directors, and chief executives to develop project scopes and safety.

  • Develop and manage RFP's for architectural and general construction services. Review, score, interview and recommend for award.

  • Participate in design meetings with architectural and end user teams.

  • Review design documents for quality, ensure compliance with standards and local agency requirements.

  • Develop project specific infection control procedures with safety and accreditation teams. Monitor compliance of procedures during construction.

  • Review and approve architectural add services, construction change orders, invoices, and construction pay applications.

  • Manage vendors to ensure top quality work is being performed in a timely manner to ensure good stewardship of financial resources.

  • Clear communication with project vendors, engineering, information services, clinical engineering, accreditation, safety teams, local jurisdictions, internal project teams, supply chain, and senior leadership.

  • Inspect construction for quality and general conformance to design documents .

  • Participate in furniture selection meetings, manage procurement and move in of materials.

  • Coordinate internal teams including but not limited to information services, EPIC, clinical engineering, accreditation, safety and physical plant operations as they relate to projects and supply chain.

  • Maintain basic administration files relevant to projects.

  • Coordination of final project move in and go live activities with all necessary parties and vendors. Coordination of moves for internal and external teams as well as physical move of employees.

  • Ensure a construction punch list is issued by architect and completed by contractor in a timely fashion.

  • Complete the project closeout out process as outlined in the technical standard.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Project Management or Business Administration or equivalent education/experience

  • 3 years experience in healthcare construction management

  • 6 years of construction management experience

  • Driver’s license

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate
