Providence is calling a Crisis Services Technician (0.6 FTE, 24 hours per week Variable) to work in the Psychiatric Emergency Department at Providence Saint Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA.

The Crisis Service Technician (CST) is a professional who in coordination with the Crisis Svcs Counselor provides crisis management; information; follow-up referrals; and discharge planning to patients and families who present in the Emergency Center with a wide variety of psychiatric, chemical addiction, and psych-social problems.
In this position you will:
Provide clerical and phone support to the Crisis Service Counselor
Perform general patient care duties
Assist with the treatment of patients who are a danger to self or others, violent, or who are detained under RCW 71-05 and similar statutes
Provide competent care appropriate to the patient population
Provide sensitivity with cultural and religious beliefs
Comply with standards when delivering and documenting patient care
Recognize the signs of abuse and reports as appropriate
Identify role and responsibility in complying with facility and unit specific safety and security policies, plans and procedures
Acquire Insurance Pre-authorization when necessary
Comply with facility and unit specific infection control, risk management and OSHA guidelines and procedures
Participate in professional growth
Perform specific business functions
Support the team process
Set priorities and organizes time
Maintain congenial relationships
Adhere to facility and department confidentiality policies
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychosocial/Mental Health field or other degrees with like curriculums
Must have a Mental Health Counselor License or will procure an Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration within six (6) months of hire
American Heart Association (AHA) - Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire
Preferred qualification s for this position includes:
Washington State Certification as a Nursing Assistant Certified
One (1) year Psychiatry and/or chemical dependency experience in a health care setting
One (1) year Experience in the area of crisis evaluation and intervention in an acute psychiatric setting with an emphasis on quick assessment skills
