Providence Health & Services Credentialing Specialist - Provider Credentialing in Olympia, Washington


Providence is calling a Credentialing Specialist (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work in Provider Credentialing at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA.

This position performs a variety of duties in the performance of primary source verifications for initial and reappointment medical staff applications and additional privilege requests. This position supports and provides back-up services and support to the medical staff offices of Providence Centralia Hospital and Providence St. Peter Hospital. This position requires attention to detail including maintaining confidentiality of medical staff provider records and documents. This position requires accurate use of Microsoft Office and credentialing software. Tracking completion and scanning documentation within provider electronic records are required. This position may record privileges within current credentialing software. This position is required to assist with continuous monitoring of state licensures, DEA registration certificate and certificates of insurance. This position will assist with medical staff events. As directed by the Medical Staff Office Manager, other duties may be assigned in order to assist in ensuring the efficient and smooth operations of the Providence Centralia Hospital and Providence St. Peter Hospital medical staff offices.

In this position you will:

  • Knowledge of confidentiality requirements, including relevant HIPAA requirements, and peer review protection.

  • Knowledge of healthcare terminology.

  • Knowledge of credentialing and privileging procedures and requirements.

  • Knowledge of computer software.

  • Knowledge of record and document management procedures.

  • Knowledge of The Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements pertaining to the medical staff.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • 2 years Experience with administrative assistant responsibilities within a healthcare related organization.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Associate's Degree

  • Credentials verification office experience or medical staff office experience.

  • Experience with web-based credentialing software.

  • CPCS Certification or CPMSM Certification preferred.
