Providence is calling a Medical Laboratory Technician I (0.8 FTE, Variable Shift) to Providence Centralia Hospital, WA
The Medical Laboratory Technician I is responsible for technical Medical Laboratory Technician bench duties within the laboratory, for the assigned section(s). The position performs routine and complex tests in any of these potential sections (as assigned): Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Microbiology, Molecular, and Immunohematology. The position has responsibility for planning, performing and evaluating laboratory testing analysis; and establishing and/or maintaining communications with physicians, patients, other hospital personnel, professional associations, and other organizations.
In this position you will:
Performs and evaluates laboratory testing and analysis.
Evaluates and responds appropriately to any sample integrity issues
Monitors instrument performance
Performs analysis in a timely manner, per the priority of the order
Assesses results properly, based on gender/age of patient
Reports results interpretations to clients, following SOP’s for test result documentation.
Maintains currency with all competency and assigned SOP review for the section(s) assigned.
Coordinates and performs data entry and related LIS operations.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Associate's Degree in Life Science or Completion of an accredited two (2) year technical MLT program, including clinical rotations.
Previous experience in a Clinical Laboratory setting.
Possesses strong technical aptitude
Demonstrated analytical skills
Strong verbal communication and listening skills
Performs work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to work within tight timeframes and meet strict deadline
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information
American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) – Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) or National Certification Agency (NCA)-Clinical Laboratory within 6 months of hire.
