Providence Health & Services Crisis Services Technician in Centralia, Washington
Providence is calling a Crisis Services Technician (1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week Variable Shift) to the Psychiatric Emergency Department at Providence Centralia Hospita in Centralia, WA.

We are seeking a Crisis Service Technician (CST) who in coordination with the Crisis Services Counselor, provides crisis management, information, follow-up referrals, and discharge planning to patients and families who present in the Emergency Center with a wide variety of psychiatric, chemical addiction and psycho-social problems.
In this position you will:
Provides clerical and phone support to the Crisis Service Counselor:
Provides general clerical support and coordinates information between outside agencies and the Crisis staff, and facilitates communication between PSPH departments and the Crisis office.
Performs general patient care duties:
Prepares patient for exams, procedures and interviews.
Take/record patient’s vital signs, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration measures.
Obtain urine samples.
Demonstrate knowledge of body substance isolation procedures, universal precautions, and biohazard material disposal.
Assists with the treatment of patients who are a danger to self or others, violent, or who are detained under RCW 71-05 and similar statutes:
Demonstrates knowledge of protocol, safe use, and basic maintenance of restraint use: body mechanics and limitations.
Reports all significant behavioral and physical issues to Crisis Services Counselor or attending EC RN.
Assists security with search of pt belongings.
Ensures pt area is clear of unsafe items.
Provides competent care appropriate to the patient population:
Assess data relative to age of patient (chronological or cognitive).
Interpret data based on age-specific parameters.
Plan, modify, and deliver care based on age of patient.
Identify and plan for special behaviors of the specific age groups.
Consider age-appropriate resources.
Develops or contributes to the individual plan of care relating to the developmental age and needs of the patient.
Adjusts to the age-related needs of the patient.
Provides sensitivity with cultural and religious beliefs:
Makes allowances for cultural and religious beliefs when providing services.
Assesses cultural and religious beliefs and adapts plan of care and patient education needs.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Human Services or Psychosocial/Mental Health field
Must have a Mental Health Counselor License or will procure an Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration within six (6) months of hire.
AHA BLS upon hire
Preferred qualification s for this position include:
Washington State Certification as a Nursing Assistant Certified
One (1) year Psychiatry and/or chemical dependency experience in a health care setting
One (1) year Experience in the area of crisis evaluation and intervention in an acute psychiatric setting with an emphasis on quick assessment skills
